Today was a good day for me. Although I haven't gotten much sleep all week and my feet have blisters from all that walking, I was excited to do the Southport race this morning. It's been a couple years, but the weather was amazing, really.
Since my dad had his surgery recently, he didn't run, so it was just me and my sister. The turn out was good, but we got a decent pace. In fact, we did almost exactly ten minute miles. Every mile we hit was like 22:12 or 32:10. And we estimate that we didn't cross the start line until two minutes in, so since we finished at about 52:15, we may've broken 50. Which isn't too shabby. And since I heard "Big Girls Don't Cry" on the radio on the way over, weird variants popped into my head such as:
"And I'm going to miss you like The Hulk misses his planet"
"And I'm going to miss you like I miss reading Young Justice"
"And I'm going to miss you like Peter misses Gwen Stacy"
"And I'm going to miss you like Sylar misses his powers"
"And I'm going to miss you like Bruce misses his parents"
...and seriously, I just went on like that.
But yeah, it was fun. We got crazy at the end and sprinted, and I got off balance, and she finished before me, but all in all, one of the better years. Thanksgiving dinner was delicious. I ate a lot, even more than usual,
