I went to Barnes and Noble on Saturday, but the only thing I bought was Smoke and Mirrors by Neil Gaiman. It's a collection of short stories and whatnot. So far I'm really enjoying it, and I read that fifty cent Sandman comic that came out last week. I'm seriously considering getting the first volume of Absolute Sandman.
So yeah, my order. I got Writing For Comics with Peter David. I read the first two chapters of that. I love the concept of storytelling, and the more I read about it, the better I get (and of course, practicing always helps). I admire Peter David's work because he fully fleshes out his characters and plots (I mean, a lot of the time Marvel seems to be concerned with going from one major event to another while Peter David shows the fall out of those events, like in X-Factor and Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man).
Finally, I got The Hero With A Thousand Faces by Joseph Campbell. A little old, sure, but very influential. I haven't started reading it yet.
A lot to read, sure, but I'm happy with how I spent my gift certificate.
