10:22 pm - Christmas With Cartoonman

I couldn't update yesterday because I was so busy, but here goes:

My mom woke my sister and I up, and we had breakfast. We got into our church clothes and went to get my grandmother (while my dad stayed and looked after Thor, my dog). My mom lives in Portsmouth VA and my grandmother lives in Norfolk, but we got to church just fine (it was rainy, though).

So after the service, we went back to my mom's house to open presents (well, first mom scrambled to warm food while I scrambled to make my pecan pie). Unfortunately, my aunt wasn't here (she's still in Kuwait, but at least she was here last year), so it was just me, my mom, my sister, my dad, and my grandmother.

Lots of gifts went around. My haul included TNBA DVD, The Simpsons season 7, King of the Hill season 5, DC Comics Guide To Writing Comics, Will Eisner's "The Dreamer", Green Lantern Showcase, a Rachael Ray cook book, and "The Visit" by Loreena McKennit. That was all I asked for, but my sister gave me some clothes, my grandmother gave me this fancy pen, my mom threw in some little trinkets, and my aunt sent this cool old-looking lock. And of course, plenty of candy!

We had mom's well-prepared meal, followed by my pecan pie (turned out pretty well). Some of us took a nap afterwards, but I had to watch "Holiday Nights" (that look on Harley's face when she's spraying the perfume is classic!). And, naturally, I watched A Christmas Story, one of the best movies ever.

We decided to see some of mom's friends, but they weren't ready, so we brought grandma back home and then went to see Chronicles of Narnia. I love The Lion, The Witch, and The Wardrobe (I've read it at least 3 times), so I really enjoyed the movie. YAY BEAVERS!!!

Finally, my mom, my sister, and I went to see some of my mom's friends. It was nice, but late, and I was kinda tired (although when we got back I DID end up watching a Tivo-ed Krypto before I went to bed).

So today, dad and I drove back to Connecticut. It wasn't bad, but it took a little longer than the drive down. Argh, I'm still in a Christmasy mood! I keep singing this:

Giddy up, giddy up, giddy up,
It's grand, being resurrected by The Hand,
We're gliding along with a song
Of a wintry fairy land.

I hope everyone else is having happy holidays!
